Vorlesung: Weimar, eine erfolgreiche Inszenierung. Erinnerungs- und kulturpolitische Bedingungen eines urbanen Mythos
Mittwoch 15:50-17:20, Raum P317 | ADE511104, 4 ECTS
Seminar: The Cultural System in Germany: Challenges in Cultural Policy and Cultural Economy
Wednesday 17:30-19:00, Room P319 | ADE511105, 4 ECTS
This seminar examines the system of culture and cultural policy in Germany since 1945, which is influenced by state, civil society, and private actors. It addresses the political, legal, and economic framework conditions of the cultural system, its origins, and its transformation. Furthermore, specific issues related to organization, financing, distribution, and mediation will be discussed. Using selected case studies, we will also examine specific cultural institutions and how they operate. The methods and concepts of cultural policy, as well as the political, legal, and economic framework conditions of the cultural system, are another topic of focus. Finally, we will examine the phases of cultural policy development in the Federal Republic of Germany and in the GDR. The course concludes with a discussion of the current challenges facing culture and cultural policy.
